Today, the Credit Union serves over 9,000 members and has assets of over $110 million. History
Buffalo Service Credit Union was founded in 1936 by a group of city employees who pooled their resources to provide financial assistance to fellow workers during the Great Depression. The credit union originally operated out of a single room in City Hall, with only a handful of members and a few hundred dollars in assets.
Since then, the credit union has grown steadily, serving a wide range of members from all walks of life. Today, Buffalo Service Credit Union is one of the largest credit unions in New York State, with over $600 million in assets and more than 50,000 members.
